  • Episode Three: 1940 - 1949 — The future starts to happen
  • Episode Four: 1950-1959 — The cold war
  • Episode Five: 1960 - 1969 — The “New Wave”
  • Episode Six: 1970 - 1979 — The growth of “soft” SF
  • Episode Seven: 1980 - 1989 — Cyberpunk, the Love Child of the New Wave
  • Episode Eight: 1990 - 1999 — The mainstreaming of the genre
  • Episode Nine: 2000 - Present — The State of the Genre

The above outline is only tentative. As my research fills out, the outline will be modified. Also, the dates are arbitrary — movements rarely fit into nice decade-sized packages. Their roots infiltrate the previous decade and their branches spill over into the next. But, as working outlines go, this will do.
