Hello,

My name is Carma and I started my obsession with gift-giving at the tender age of 7. That’s when my Mom gave me the opportunity to help out with wrapping the family’s Christmas presents. I had such a blast, it became my annual duty. I even got to wrap my own presents — after my mother covered them in brown wrap or a plain box, of course.

From there, party planning wasn’t a great leap. I started planning my own birthday parties — including planning and even sometimes preparing the menu — when I was 13.

For me, celebrating special moments in life with friends and family is a sacred act. I put a lot of thought into the gifts I give, attempting to give something that not only the receiver will enjoy but the giver, as well. Although receiving gifts is fun, it pales for me in comparison to the excitement of watching someone open a gift I’ve given.

Parties are just an extension of the gift-giving process. When I throw a party, I’m giving everyone who shows up the gift of good food and good company — at least that’s the plan.

As I look around at the commercialization of so many gift-giving and party occasions, I’ve come to realize that much of the pleasure has been sapped out of the gift-giving and party planning experience. Finding the right gift and pulling together the right party plans have become chores. I’ve created CSP Gift Consulting so I can spread the cheer and help others enjoy the joyous act of gift-giving, to bring back the child-like glee we all once had when birthdays and holidays rolled by.
